St. Hubert Plaza
New and Improved Plaza
Plaza Saint Hubert, the shopping district on St. Hubert Street between Bellechasse and Jean Talon, is notorious for its chintzy stores and green-trimmed glass awnings.
The Plaza has not always been the destination of the bargain hunter. Founded in 1954, the merchant’s were once known for their high-end offerings and their posh clientele.
The signature glass awnings make the Plaza distinct within Montreal, creating a unique destination and this in turn seems to help foster diversity of small independent businesses.

By the end of 2020, you should be seeing a new and improved Plaza St. Hubert. The new version includes a narrower street, with wider cement-tiled sidewalks with granite borders that will be almost flush with the street. The City is planting over 200 trees on the edge of the sidewalks and next to the trademark awning on both sides of the street. The steel and glass awning, installed in 1984, is being dismantled to make way for a lighter, brighter one.
